Glaciers will increasibly be affected by Climate Change in the next decades

In this post, I focus on what I found out and what are my thoughts about glaciers disappearance due to Climate Change. Also, I review how I found keeping my blog updated and what I learnt from it.

Glaciers disappearance are the first proof of Climate Change

Glaciers retreat has large impacts on the environment from the geological, biological and human perspectives.

Scientific studies published during the last decades are proof that Climate Change is something we can observe. People who are agriculture dependent must have seen inundations or river piracy affect their everyday life. Landscapes have significantly changed and habitations are increasingly trapped under sea-level rise.  

Glaciers retreat can be managed temporary but won't resolve the main problem

Many solutions can be found to tackle and slow the glacier disappearance, but not definitely stop the mechanism. Things can only be truly solved by treating the source of the problem, rather patching glacier collapse up.

As glaciers are disappearing, all the trapped indicators are lost. This makes things worse as the study of past climates can teach us a lot on how the Earth works.tes and destroys ecosystems. An efficient and permanent solution needs to be found, that is to remarkably reduce the greenhouse emissions. But for that deep changes need to be made in all of the societies.

It is sad to lose records of the past as glaciers disappear

Glaciers are one of the biggest archives of past climates and environments. A simple ice core can tell you a lot about the atmosphere components and ecosystems.

As glaciers are disappearing, all the trapped indicators are lost. This makes things worse as the study of past climates can teach us a lot on how the Earthworks.

This blog provided me with knowledge and confidence

Through my weekly posts, I have been able to share my curiosity for glaciers. It has been great for me to make things simpler for people to read and understand as scientific articles can sometimes be harsh. This blog also gave me confidence in the ability to deliver information in another language than French. I took the decision to keep this blog updated monthly with news about Climate Change as this subject is important to me.
